Monaco falls to Bourg in the wake of tragic events

AS Monaco has confirmed the tragic news of last night’s accident, which claimed the life of a young player from its Nationale 3 (fifth-tier) team.

The accident occurred during the team’s return from a game. In addition to the player who lost his life, three other players, the coach, and the driver were injured. All of them are currently receiving medical care.

In these tragic circumstances, the Club President and its members extend their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, and stand with the injured as well as the entire team affected by this event.

After a minute of silence at the start of the game, Vassilis Spanoulis’ team fell to a heavy 73–100 defeat against JL Bourg and dropped to third place in the Pro A standings with a 21–6 record.

Mam Jaiteh led Monaco with 15 points, while Jaron Blossomgame, Jordan Loyd, and Matthew Strazel added 11 points each. On the other side, Adrian Nelson and Jordan Usher paced Bourg with 18 points apiece to secure the win.
