Cholet made a statement to open the French League semifinals.

They edged Paris Basketball 90-89 on the road and stole home-court advantage.

TJ Campbell starred for the visitors with 19 points, including two clutch free throws in the closing seconds, while Jamuni McNeace added 12 points and four rebounds. Aaron Towo-Nansi also provided an important spark off the bench.

Paris had a chance to win it at the buzzer, but Nadir Hifi missed the potential game-winning three-pointer after finishing with 19 points on an inefficient shooting night for the hosts, who struggled from deep overall.

Among those in attendance at the Adidas Arena were Rudy Gobert, top NBA prospect AJ Dybantsa and actor Omar Sy.

Game 2 will be played on Thursday, with Paris already under pressure.
