Monaco could refuse to take the court for Game 5 of the French League Finals against Paris, following disciplinary proceedings involving two of its players.

A dispute involving guard Matthew Strazel and referee Mehdi Difallah has created uncertainty over Monaco’s participation in the decisive championship game.

Strazel, who has been at the center of attention in recent days due to both his reported agreement with Anadolu Efes and his outstanding performance in Game 4 of the Finals, was involved in a verbal altercation with Difallah during Game 3 against Paris.

In the same contest, Monaco forward Alpha Diallo was ejected. The league’s disciplinary committee is reportedly considering sanctions that could rule both players out of Game 5, scheduled for June 23.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Strazel and Diallo were both allowed to play in Game 4, as the French league did not initiate an expedited disciplinary process.

According to reports from L’Équipe and Nice-Matin, Monaco is considering the possibility of boycotting Game 5 in Paris if the suspensions are confirmed. Such a move would effectively hand Paris the championship title and secure a second consecutive league crown.

French basketball outlet BeBasket reports that Monaco’s stance is also intended to increase pressure on league authorities. Club officials reportedly believe they have already been treated unfairly during the regular season.

The controversy stems from the final league standings, where Paris finished first with a 22–8 record, while Monaco ended second despite posting a 22–7 record. Monaco lost a victory due to an administrative ruling, a decision that ultimately affected the race for first place and home-court advantage.
