Strasbourg spoiled the party of ASVEL

With Tony Parker in the house, ASVEL prepared to celebrate the qualification to the French League Finals. They played at home and desired the sweep after winning the first two semifinals on the road.

But Strasbourg played for its life. And wouldn’t give up easily.

With Erving Walker dropping 21 points and AJ Slaughter scoring 16 including the go-ahead basket down the final stretch, the players of Vincent Collet spoiled the party of the defending champs winning 67 – 64 and made the 1-2 in the semifinals.

Darryl Watkins and Casper Ware scored 14 points apiece for ASVEL but failed to stop Slaughter’s action late in the fourth. Then Nicolas Lang’s attempt to force an overtime went off target and Strasbourg took the oxygen needed to remain in the series.
