Brandon Childress presents unbelievable ‘Like father, like son’ moment

Nearly four decades after his father, Randolph Childress, tallied the first-ever triple-double in the top-tier division of Turkiye, 28-year-old Brandon Childress posted a triple-double on Saturday.

Following in his father’s footsteps, the younger Wake Forest product dropped 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists for Bursaspor in an overtime win, 91-87, against Galatasaray MCT Technic in Tofas Arena. Back in the 1998-99 installment, packing 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 steals, his father opened a list of triple-doubles in Turkiye, during his spell with Kombassan Konya.

Between the Childress family excelling in Turkiye, Dee Bost twice, Mark Dickel, Emir Preldzic, Mire Chatman,
Courtney Fortson, Bobby Dixon, Pierria Henry, Bugrahan Tuncer, Cevher Ozer, Tu Holloway, Yigitcan Saybir, Omercan Ilyasoglu, Egehan Arna, Codi Miller-McIntyre, and Bora Satir produced triple-doubles. Randolph and Brandon were the first and 18th.

A big win for Bursaspor created a 4-6 W-L tally, which currently ranks ninth in the 2025-26 Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season. However, the Round 10 fixture was additionally marked by a postgame incident, an assault on the team bus of the visitors.

Over eight appearances between the Qualification Rounds and Regular Season, Childress tallied 12.1 points per contest.
