Since signing with Olympiacos in the summer of 2024, Evan Fournier has only had a clear goal in mind for his EuroLeague campaign: reach the Final Four 2025, which will be played next weekend in Abu Dhabi.
A few days before making his debut in the most anticipated event of the whole season, the French superstar sat down with Eurohoops, revealing his feelings ahead of such an event.
“I’m definitely excited, and the season is coming to an end, two more games until there’s a winner of the EuroLeague, and hopefully that can be us. We’ve worked all season long to get to this moment,” he commented.
When asked about what he liked about Olympiacos this season, he had a certain answer. “Our togetherness. We started the season poorly. We were struggling to find our rhythm, struggling to let loose, and play with confidence,” he said.
“But we never complain, we always practice hard, and we have always had a good team spirit. And to me, that’s the key for this team.”
Evan Fournier also touched on what his relationship with Bartzokas was like. “I love Coach Bartzokas. He’s a player’s coach. He has a philosophy, and he swears by his philosophy. I think he’s good for a coach because he’s able to really translate that to his players.”
“We all believe in his system. We all bought in, obviously, otherwise he wouldn’t be first. He’s a great leader. He has great charisma, and it’s awesome. I’ve been able to learn a lot from him.”
He was also asked who is going to take the last shot if the game ended up like the 2023 EuroLeague Final. “I have to say myself. I have to say that, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that,” Fournier finished.
