Alba Berlin changed its backcourt by signing veteran Carl English and releasing Dominique Johnson. English signed with the German team for the rest of the season. He arrives from the Spanish club Tenerife, with which he had signed a short-term deal.

English averaged 6.3 points per game in six ACB League games and 15.2 points in five FIBA Champions League games for Tenerife. He has previous EuroCup experience with Gran Canaria and he has also played for Baskonia in 2009-10. Apart from these teams, he’s been part of Virtus Bologna in Italy, Zadar in Croatia, AEK Athens in Greece; Caciques de Humacao in Puerto Rico, Joventut Badalona, Cajasol Seville and Estudiantes in Spain and North Charleston and Florida in the D-League.

“Carl English and I know each other very well from our time together at Gran Canaria and Estudiantes,” Alba Berlin Sports Director Himar Ojeda said. “He is a very good shooter with a high basketball IQ who will help our team with his vast experience in many areas. Carl is a team player and at the same time someone who can create his own shot and will never be afraid to take the decisive shot. In the case of Dominique Johnson, both sides have agreed that it has not matched as hoped. We thank him for his commitment in Berlin and wish him all the best for the future.”
