Luka Mitrovic joins CSKA for the rest of the season

Luka Mitrovic has signed a contract until the end of the 2025-26 season with CSKA.

The deal was announced on Tuesday.

“I am delighted to become a part of such a big team as CSKA. I know very well where I am coming, what are the ambitions, the goals for the season. I’ll give my best to settle as soon as possible and help the team achieve those goals. Looking forward to see all of you soon!” said the 32-year-old Serbian forward/center, addressing the fans of the Moscow outfit.

“I am happy to welcome Luka to CSKA. He is an experienced player whose career speaks for itself. Luka will face the important challenge of adapting to our system, but with the support of his teammates, the club, and our fans, I am confident he will adjust quickly and make a valuable contribution to the team’s success,” added head coach Andreas Pistiolis.

Per the press release: “Serbian center Luka Mitrovic (32 years old, 206 cm) has signed a contract with our club until the end of the season.

The agreement will take effect after the player completes a medical examination in Moscow.

The Novi Sad native began playing basketball in his hometown, then grew up and became a professional player in the Hemofarm youth system. His first “big” team was Crvena Zvezda, where he signed a contract in 2012. In the 2013-14 season, Mitrovic made his Euroleague debut. The following year, at a very young age, he was named captain of the Belgrade team. In the summer of 2015, he was selected 60th overall in the NBA draft. From 2017 to 2021, the center played abroad, wearing the jerseys of Brose Bamberg, Murcia, Manresa, Hapoel Jerusalem, and Buducnost. He then returned to Zvezda. With the Belgrade club, Luka became a five-time Adriatic League champion, a six-time Serbian champion, and an eight-time Serbian Cup winner.

Mitrovic also won medals at top tournaments with the Serbian national youth team and represented the national team in qualifying games for the 2023 World Cup and the 2025 Eurobasket. Last season, he played 25 Euroleague games (5.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 65% two-point shooting in 12.5 minutes) and 27 Adriatic League games (6.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 72.1% two-point shooting in 13.6 minutes).”
