Zenit St. Petersburg guard Brandon Jennings is quite familiar with how the game is played in Europe due to his prior EuroLeague experience, but not particularly acquainted with the players. Even when it comes to EuroLeague superstars.
When asked about competing with Khimki Moscow guard Alexey Shved for the top scorer title in VTB League, Jennings simply replied: “I don’t know such player”, in an interview for Zenit’s website.
We can’t tell if Jennings was truly honest about not being even aware of Shved (the reigning EuroLeague Top Scorer), or if he simply wanted to ruffle the Russian player’s feathers ahead of their duels in the 2018-2019 VTB. Either way, the upcoming Khimki – Zenit games are expected with delicious interest.
Jennings might say that he doesn’t know who Shved is but the two players share something in common. They both have been New York Knicks players, Jennings during the first half of the 2016-2017 season, and Shved in 2015.
Actually, Jennings has some pretty fond memories from his time in New York, especially when it comes to the Knicks fans. “Each home game was attended by 20- thousand fans. Regardless whether you lose or win, they will greet you with applause. These are the most loyal fans I’ve ever seen. In addition, they’re all over the world.”
