Marko Simonovic scored a game-high 22 points as Zenit St. Petersburg beat Lokomotiv Kuban 87 – 85 in Game 4 of the VTB League Quarterfinals and won the series 3-1.

The game was a thriller up until the very end. Loko had the last possession and the possibility to win it but Evgeny Valiev deflected Dmitry Kulagin’s pass, as the final horn sounded.

Vitaly Fridzon dropped 21 points while Kulagin had 18 points and six assists for Lokomotiv. Their team had to win at least a game in St. Petersburg in order to bring the series back to Krasnodar following their Game 1 loss at home but didn’t manage to do so.

Τhe semifinals will start on the 22nd of May with the games between UNICS Kazan and Khimki and on the 23rd of May with the couple between Zenit and CSKA Moscow.

With the exception of Zenit which beat the team which had the home court advantage in order to advance, UNICS, Khimki, and CSKA got their semifinals tickets with a 3-0 sweep.
