ABA League to discuss options for the 2019-20 season conclusion

An ABA League conference call is scheduled for today, Wednesday, reports Serbian outlet Nova.rs.

Following Euroleague Basketball’s decision to cancel the 2019-20 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup seasons without winners, the ABA League is expected to make a ruling on its own 2019-20 campaign.

The plan for the 2020-21 EuroLeague season is for the 2019-20 clubs to make out the 18-team playing field without alterations. Even before the coronavirus pandemic, ABA League held priority for one of the three wildcards, despite the allocation criteria for non-guaranteed spots no longer directly linked to domestic leagues.

Taking all the above into consideration, the ABA League will decide whether to crown a 2019-20 champion, whether to relegate team or teams to the second division, and whether to promote team or teams from the second division. The process will lead to forming the initial plan for the 2020-21 season.
