After two years at Gonzaga University, Filip Petrusev decided to start his professional career in his hometown – Belgrade, Serbia – with Mega Bemax.

“I am very happy and excited to sign with Mega Bemax as this is the best club for young players in the whole Europe. We will play in the ABA League, which is a very strong competition and a perfect place for me to continue growing as a player. Everybody knows how many world-class players have been part of Mega’s system. My goal is to follow their footsteps and play in the NBA one day,” Petrusev said.

The 20-year-old Serbian forward had an exemplary season leading the Gonzaga Bulldogs in scoring (17.5 points per game) and rebounding (7.9 per game). He was named the West Coast Conference player of the year.

He also had a strong summer with the Serbian U19 squad at the 2019 World Cup leading it as the top performer (27 PIR), averaging a double-double (19.3 points, 10.1 rebounds). He won two gold medals for the Serbian U18 teams at EuroBasket.

Petrusev announced back in late April that he has declared for the 2020 NBA Draft but that he hasn’t hired an agent and would keep an open mind about his future.

Serbian portal Nova reported first the deal between the player and Mega Bemax.
