BAXI Manresa closed out the season with a prestigious victory, defeating Real Madrid 94-87 in a fiery Nou Congost arena. The match was a tense affair, filled with ejections and excitement until the final buzzer. The Catalan team also achieved a historic win against the Liga Endesa leaders, a feat they hadn’t accomplished in 28 years.

Sergio Scariolo and Omer Yurtseven were ejected during the heated exchange, while Alberto Abalde received a technical foul after confronting one of the referees.

Real Madrid, mired in a less-than-ideal run of form, suffered their sixth defeat in the last seven games despite Mario Hezonja’s outstanding performance. Despite holding first place for several weeks, the team’s overall performance hasn’t been the best. The Croatian practically single-handedly carried the Whites with a 32-point offensive display, leading the visitors’ comeback when the game seemed all but over.

BAXI Manresa dominated the second half, building a 52-33 lead that seemed to promise a comfortable night for the home team. However, the Madrid side rallied, led by Hezonja, and managed to tie the game in the final minutes, putting the pressure on the Nou Congost crowd.

But this time, Manresa didn’t let the victory slip away. With more energy and accuracy in the final stretch, the Catalans withstood the Madrid team’s push and secured a win against the league leaders.
