ALBA holds on for narrow win over top-seed Ludwigsburg

ALBA Berlin edged Ludwigsburg, 79-78, improving its easyCredit BBL record to 27-6 and securing the second seed of the playoffs. Niels Giffey fired 16 points and Luke Sikma threw in five points, 11 rebounds, and six assists on Tuesday. The losing side had clinched the top seed of the German league but fell to 29-4.

Bayern, third tallying 24 wins in its first 32 matches, will host Ulm on Friday. Right behind the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague quarterfinalists, Oldenburg and Crailsheim at 23-9 and 23-10, respectively, after a direct collision resulting in a 90-73 victory for the Merlins.

T.J. Shorts scored 24 points including the game-winning bucket for Hamburg in the 93-91 victory over Gottingen. David Walker had 23 points leading Bayreuth past the Fraport Skyliners, 81-58. Malte Ziegenhagen connected seven triples in a 24-point effort as Chemnitz beat Wurzburg, 84-83.
