Jaleen Smith named MVP, John Patrick Coach of the Year in Germany

Jaleen Smith earned the season MVP award of the German league, as announced Wednesday. He led MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg to a first-place finish in the Regular Season with 15.7 points, 5.5 assists, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per easyCredit BBL contest this season. He was recently linked to Turkish Airlines EuroLeague’s Zalgiris Kaunas.

His coach, John Patrick was officially tabbed as Coach of the Year earlier in the day. Ludwigsburg had a 30-4 record to capture the first seed of the Playoffs.

Also, Ludwigsburg’s Yorman Polas Bartolo landed the Best Defender award for the third time. Trae Bell-Haynes of HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim captured the Best Offensive Player distinction.
