Diego Ocampo to take over Fraport Skyliners

Diego Ocampo will become the new head coach of the Fraport Skyliners, according to Chema de Lucas.

The 44-year-old expert has been coaching in Spain his whole career and this will be the first time Ocampo takes on a team outside his native country.

Ocampo worked as an assistant under some familiar names such as Pedro Martinez, Joan Plaza, and Aito Garcia Reneses. As a head coach, he led Murcia, Estudiantes, Joventut, Barca’s B team, Manresa, and his most recent stint was with Zaragoza. He also had success with the younger selection of the Spanish national team.

His challenge will be to push Fraport Skyliners over the hump in the German easyCreditBBL league. The team finished the 2020-21 season outside the playoffs zone with a 13-21 record, four wins away from the eighth seed, and as many above the relegation zone.
