With captain Vladimir Lucic and Corey Walden leading the way with 18 points each, Bayern Munich defeated Oldenburg 90-78 in the German Cup final and won the first trophy of the season.

Andrea Trinchieri’s team dethroned Alba Berlin in the semi-final and expectedly overcame Oldenburg, winning the Cup for the fourth time in the club’s history.

Nick Weiler Babb had 14 points, three assists, and two steals for a PIR of 15 and, in the end, was named MVP, while Freddie Gilespie came close to a double-double with nine points and rebounds.

Dewayne Russell with 28 and Trey Drechsel with 21 points gave an excellent effort for Oldenburg, but more was needed against 1968, 2018, 2021, and now 2023 German Cup winners.

Bayern had control from the beginning, gaining a 13-point lead already in the first period, and paved the way to the victory after a strong push in the final quarter, which had them up to 76-57. After that, it was just a matter of the final score because Bayern already had a job done.
