Bayern survives Bayreuth

Bayern’s ups and downs in the domestic competitions continue. Andrea Trinchieri’s squad almost lost to Bayreuth, the last-placed team in Germany. In round 28 Bayern made a push in the fourth quarter and got the much-needed win 80-79.

The home team has only three wins this season, but they played their best game by far. Bayreuth had a 10-point lead at the beginning of the second half (56-46), but could not hold on till the end.

In front of 3,200 fans, Zylan Cheatham’s successful debut (18/6 rebounds, 4 assists) made it difficult for the bottom team, who demanded everything from Bayern. Hunter (18), Winston (12), and Bonga (11) also scored double digits. Otis Livingston had 20 points, but it was not enough in the end for Bayreuth.

Bayern is still behind Bonn (21-2) and ALBA (19-2) in the standings.
