Bayern and Alba hit key domestic wins on the road

Pulling away in the fourth quarter, FC Bayern Munich took down Niners Chemnitz, 86-73, on Sunday.

Carsen Edwards produced 20 points as the team coached by Pablo Laso slowed down the leaders of Germany’s easyCredit BBL in Round 17 of the Regular Season. Vladimir Lucic chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds and Niels Giffey finished with 12 points. Isaac Bonga was among the sidelined players for the Munich outfit.

Earlier in Telekom Dome, ALBA Berlin shook off a slow start for a key domestic win, 95-87, versus Telekom Baskets Bonn. Scoring 22 points, Yanni Wetzell paved the way and set a new individual record for the 2023-24 campaign. Ziga Samar (foot), Louis Olinde (head), and Justin Bean (ankle) were out for the team coached by Israel Gonzalez.

The team coached by Roel Moors, heading to Gameday 1 of the Basketball Champions League Round of 16 and hosting Galatasaray Ekmas on Tuesday, fell to 10-8 in the BBL. Canadian Thomas Kennedy registered a team-high 19 points in the losing effort.
