Bayern preserves slim lead over ALBA for Germany’s top spot

Maintaining a one-game lead on top of the easyCredit BBL standings, Pablo Laso’s FC Bayern Munich secured a road win, 81-74, over ratiopharm Ulm on Wednesday.

Taking over in the second half, Carsen Edwards logged a team-high 17 points. Nick Weiler-Babb produced a game-high efficiency rating of 21 with 15 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Sylvain Francisco, Dino Radoncic, Niklas Wimberg, and Danko Brankovic were sidelined for the Round 31 contest.

Down the stretch of the Regular Season and looking to clinch homecourt advantage across the Playoffs of Germany’s top-tier division, the Munich outfit pulled away in the third quarter, following a tight first half in Ratiopharm Arena.

Anton Gavel’s players reduced the deficit to five points in the fourth quarter before the visitors restored a double-digit advantage. L.J. Figueroa scored a game-high 18 points.

On Tuesday, second-placed ALBA Berlin edged out MLP Academics Heidelberg, 96-89. Johannes Thiemann paved the way with 21 points. Gabriele Procida, Matteo Spagnolo. Martin Hermannsson, Ziga Samar, Louis Olinde, and Khalifa Koumadje were out.
