ALBA Berlin shuts down Bayern Munich; Bavarians still get top spot

ALBA Berlin used an 18 – 0 run at the beginning of the fourth period to defeat Bayern Munich 59 – 53 in a postponed game for Round 10 of the German League regular season.

Despite the result, Bayern secured first place in the standings due to having the tiebreaking advantage over ALBA, thanks to a 77 – 53 home win five days ago. The Albatrosses get the second seed.

In a low-scoring game with major ups and downs for both sides before ALBA’s prevalence in the fourth quarter, Sterlin Brown had 11 points and seven rebounds for ALBA. Matt Thomas and Justin Bean added 9 points apiece.

Danko Brankovic posted 10 points plus five rebounds for Bayern. His team led 41 – 53 early in the fourth period before ALBA’s decisive run.
