Nikolic emerges in Brose Bamberg victory over Ludwigsburg

Few hours after announcing Nikos Zisis’ renewal until 2019, a Nicolo Melli-less Brose Bamberg defeated Ludwigsburg 84 – 75 for a postponed game of the 19th Week of the German League.

Four players of coach Trinchieri scored in double figures with Fabien Causeur providing in an all-around manner (17 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds), 21-year-old Aleksej Nikolic having a 17 points season-high, Janis Strelnieks adding 13 and Darius Miller 11.

The defending champs forced their opponents to score only 8 points in the second quarter, answering with 17 to take a 41 – 31 lead at halftime. They never looked back after that, staying in front for the remainder of the match.

Drew Crawford (25 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds) and Cliff Hammonds (16 points) were the best Ludwigsburg had to offer.

Brose Bamberg now has a 20 – 1 record and continues tracking undefeated Ratiopharm Ulm.

Earlier, Science City Jena stunned Alba Berlin 73 – 74 on the road for the 22th Round with Marcos Knight scoring 16 points and grabbing 7 rebounds and yesterday, Bayern Munich prevailed 86 – 71 over Gottingen in a postponed Round 19 game, behind 16 points and 7 rebounds by Vladimir Lucic.
