Fraport upsets Bayern on the road, Bamberg advances to semifinals

Despite trailing at halftime, Fraport Skyliners bounced back and recorded an 86-83 road win against Bayern Munchen which puts them ahead in the German BundesLeague quarterfinals series 2-1.

With forty seconds left, the game was tied at 81 and Skyliners seemed to have the momentum. Jared Cunningham put Bayern ahead by a two-point margin (83-81)  but Philip Scrubb took the responsibility on the other side and turned the situation around with a triple after which the guests secured the win with great defense and calm free throw shooting.

Tai Webster led the winning side with 20 points while the scorer of the crucial three-pointer, Scrubb, added 15 points. For Bayern, Cunningham scored 20 points in addition to Nihad Djedovic’s 17 points.

Earlier, Brose Bamberg won the third game against Telekom Baskets Bonn 75-50 finishing the series without a loss (3-0) and being the first team to advance to the semifinals. Dorell Wright led the victors with 17 points in addition to Augustine Rubit’s 16 points. On the other side, Anthony Dileo and Julian Gamble scored 12 points each.

Alba Berlin routed EWE Baskets Oldenburg 96-79 at home and leads the series once again (2-1) while MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg made a break against medi Bayreuth with a 79-74 road win increasing the lead in the series to 2-0.
