Bayern, Alba complete sweeps and advance to semifinals

Although it was a tie at 77 midway through the fourth quarter, Bayern Munich went on a 10-0 run to seal an 87-77 home win over Basketball Lowen Braunschweig in the German League playoffs.

Bayern won the series 3-0 and advanced to the semifinals where they will clash with the winner of the duel between RASTA Vechta and Brose Bamberg (2-1).

Danilo Barthel shot 7-8 from the field (6-6 twos) and banked 16 points for Bayern while Petteri Koponen scored 15 on perfect three-point shooting (5-5).

On the other side,  Christian Sengfelder scored 18 points in addition to Shaquille Hines’ double-double of 17 points and 11 boards.

Earlier, Alba Berlin routed Ratiopharm Ulm 100-83 sweeping the series 3-0 and advancing to the semifinals where they will clash with EWE Baskets Oldenburg.

Peyton Siva shot 5-9 from deep on his way to 18 points while dishing six assists and stealing the ball four times in addition to four rebounds. Martin Hermannsson helped with 14 points.

For Ulm, Kati Reinhardt nailed game-high 21 points, all from downtown (7-11 threes) while Ryan Thompson scored 17 points and dished nine assists.
