Brose Bamberg had an upper hand and it seemed as though they will force a Game 5 but Rasta Vechta managed to make two crucial runs and grab a 90-86 road win in German League quarterfinals.

Vechta – which advanced to the playoffs for the first time in club’s history – won the series 3-1 and will clash with Bayern Munich in the semifinals. It should also be noted that Vechta accomplished this while playing with just seven players throughout the whole series.

Austin Hollins nailed 22 points (5-10 triples) for the victors followed by Michael Kessens’ 18 in addition to Philipp Herkenhoff and Thomas Bray’s 15 points each. Bray also dished 14 assists.

For Bamberg, Tyrese Rice scored 19 points while Bryce Taylor added 15 and Augustine Rubit 14 points. Elias Harris banked 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Bamberg was ahead 46-42 at halftime and 57-47 early in the third quarter but the guests went on a 23-5 run to turn the tables (70-62). The hosts managed to bounce back and had an 86-82 lead with a minute and a half remaining but Vechta took over once again scoring the last eight points of the game and stealing the win.
