Unicaja reportedly signs Luis Casimiro to contract extension

Unicaja Malaga and coach Luis Casimiro will continue working together, as the two sides have agreed to a 1+1 year contract extension, according to reports by Diario Sur, with the official announcement expected soon.

Despite the fact that Casimiro’s statements after the elimination of the team in the Final Phase of the ACB League denoted a pessimistic tone about his future with the club, as the report notes, the two sides will continue their co-operation.

Casimiro, 60, took charge of Unicaja’s bench a the start of the 2018-19 season, following Joan Plaza’s departure from the club after five seasons. During the 2019-20 season, Casimiro led the team to the Copa Del Rey final, where they lost the title to Real Madrid.
