Ulm’s Semaj Christon lands first-ever EuroCup weekly MVP honor

Semaj Christon landed his first-ever weekly MVP honor after leading ratiopharm Ulm to an 85-72 victory over Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse in Round 16 of the 7DAYS EuroCup.

Christon posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 assists, along with four rebounds for a PIR of 31, the highest of any other player in this week’s action.

Per EuroCup:

A fantastic individual performance in a critical road victory led to Semaj Christon of ratiopharm Ulm earning MVP of the Round honors for Round 16.

Christon had a fine all-around effort in leading Ulm to a 72-85 road victory against Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse. He finished the game with 19 points on 5-of-6 two-point shooting, 1-of-3 from downtown and 6-of-8 on free throws. Christon added 4 rebounds, 12 assists, 1 steal and 4 fouls drawn for a PIR of 31, which was the highest in Round 16. He earned EuroCup MVP of the Round honors for the first time in his career.

Christon’s teammate Jaron Blossomgame was close to the honor; he had a PIR of 30 against Bourg. Blossomgame played all 40 minutes, recording 17 points on 9-of-10 free-throw shooting, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 5 fouls drawn.

Isaia Cordinier of Virtus Segafredo Bologna posted a PIR of 29 in his team’s 61-83 road victory against Promitheas Patras. Cordinier had 22 points on 7-of-8 two-point shooting, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 4 fouls drawn. Djordje Gagic of Lietkabelis Panevezys, who amassed a PIR of 28, David Dudzinski of Frutti Extra Bursaspor and Zach Auguste of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, each with PIRs of 26, completed the top individual performances in Round 16.

Jordan McRae of Boulogne Metropolitans 92 and Victor Sanders of Umana Reyer Venice led Round 16 in scoring with 24 points apiece. Errick McCollum of Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar remains the competition’s top scorer at 22.3 points per night. Jaron Blossomgame of ratiopharm Ulm pulled down 12 rebounds, which were more than any other player in this round. Kerem Kanter of Slask Wroclaw leads all rebounders with 8.9 per game this season.

Semaj Christon of Ulm was the only player to register double digits in assists in Round 16 with 12 against Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse. Milos Teodosic of Virtus Segafredo Bologna ranks first in assists for the season with 9.3 per night. Aleksa Avramovic collected 5 steals in Partizan’s road victory against Slask. He ranks second this season (1.8 spg.) behind only Andrew Albicy of Gran Canaria (1.9 spg.).

Simon Birgander of Joventut Badalona had 4 blocks in his team’s road loss against Metropolitans. Octavius Ellis of Turk Telekom Ankara leads the blocks’ charts with 1.5 per game. Christon (19 points, 12 assists), Blossomgame (17 points, 12 rebounds) and Alen Omic of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (10 points, 10 rebounds) were the only players to register double-doubles in Round 16.
