This setback ends an impressive run for the former USC standout, who was delivering crucial performances for coach Dusan Alimpijevic. In the ongoing best-of-five championship series opposite Fenerbahce Beko, Mathews contributed 17 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists before getting hurt. Throughout the domestic campaign, the versatile playmaker averaged 13.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game.
His impact extended to continental competition, where he played a pivotal role in guiding the Turkish powerhouse to the BKT EuroCup Finals. He started in 20 out of his 23 continental appearances, recording 13.9 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per contest.
Replacing his scoring output and leadership will pose a massive challenge for the squad moving forward as his side battles for silverware on the biggest domestic stage.
