Perennial Montenegrin champion Buducnost VOLI Podgorica has appointed Coach Aleksandar Dzikic to lead the team in the coming season. Dzikic, 46, has one season of EuroCup experience under his belt, but a memorable one in which he led Lietuvos Rytas to the 2011-12 EuroCup finals. Rytas eventually won third place, after losing a semifinal clash against Valencia Basket. Dzikic arrives from Partizan Belgrade of his native Serbia, where he spent the last 18 months. He started his career with Beovuk in his hometown of Belgrade, and was an assistant to Dusko Vujosevic at Partizan for six years before spending two seasons as an assistant coach with Minnesota in the NBA. After taking over Union Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia in mid-season, he proceeded to lead the team to the 2008 Slovenian League title. His next stop was Krka Novo Mesto, where he spent two seasons and made history, guiding the club to back-to-back Slovenian League titles and the 2011 FIBA EuroChallenge crown. After a season with Lithuanian powerhouse Rytas, Dzikic returned to Krka, where he won the 2014 Slovenian championship, and also led the national team of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Now Dzikic returns to EuroCup, five years after a memorable season, determined to get former quarterfinalist Buducnost back to EuroCup contention.
