Aleksandar Dzikic is the heavy favorite to succeed Ilias Zouros at the helm of Buducnost, however there’s an asterisk on why a deal hasn’t been finalized.

Buducnost has been searching for a new head coach after parting ways with Ilias Zouros and is close to a deal with Aleksandar Dzikic, according to Eurohoops sources.

While Dzikic has one year remaining in his contract with Partizan and has mentioned that he doesn’t plan to resign following elimination by FMP in the Serbian League semifinals, there have been negotiations not only with Buducnost but also Cedevita.

The Montenegrin club really wants Dzikic and has the upper hand in the talks so far. The two sides are close to reaching an agreement but a deal hasn’t been struck yet. The reason is that Dzikic doesn’t want to completely abandon the option of Cedevita that also has a vacant head coach position waiting to be covered, following the termination of Veljko Mrsic’s contract.

Both teams are a “lock” for next season’s EuroCup and offer Dzikic the opportunity to coach in the second-tier European basketball competition apart from the ABA League.
