Zenit edges Gran Canaria at home

Zenit St. Petersburg beat Herbalife Gran Canaria with 90-85, improving to a 4-2 record (the latter fell to 3-3).

Turning point: With one minute to go, Kyle Kuric pushed Zenit’s lead to 6 points and despite the Spanish side’s last attempt, Zenit kept the control of the game.

After storming 25-15 in the first period, the hosts had to fight back an outbreak by Gran Canaria in the second period, managing to keep a 4-point lead at halftime, 46-42.

Α comeback by the Spanish side with a 4-0 lead evened the score at 31′, 65-65. The pressure turned on the Russian side, as the visitors did not let them take a comfortable lead, then Pasecniks tied the score again at 34′ (73-73).

The stars: Scottie Reynolds and Sergey Karasev led the winners with 21 and 20 points each, while they also shared six assists each.
