Zenit one step closer to the Top 16 after beating Ulm

Zenit St. Petersburg prevailed over ratiopharm Ulm at home with 90-78, making their way to the Top 16 a little easier (5-4 record). With this loss, Ulm practically stays out of the next round (2-7).

The key: The hosts closed up the third period with a 60-54 safety net, which allowed them to take charge in the final one.

Despite the tight competition, the hosts managed to keep a short head at halftime with 38-36. The Russian side started expanding its lead in the third period (43-36 at 22′) and a little later on Marko Simonovic scored from the three-point line to give his team a 48-42 advantage.

The star: Marko Simonovic finished the game with 21 points (with 6 out of 9 3-pointers), leading the winners.

Not enough: Isaac Fotu scored 16 points, while Jerrelle Benimon followed with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
