Following Euroleague Basketball’s decision to fine Olympiacos as a result of the conduct of the fans and the insufficient preventive measures for the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 27 match versus Panathinaikos OPAP, the Greens issued a press release noting their lack of approval.

“Panathinaikos was sanctioned with fines amounting to 54,001 euros after our first-round game, was ordered to play one game behind closed doors as well,” reminded Panathinaikos via its official statement, “These are decisions that really help the most against violence and demonstrate the merit and objectivity in the Euroleague product.”

Before the 38,000 euros fine against the Reds was announced, Panathinaikos released a statement accusing their arch-rivals of creating a climate of terrorism during the match. Further initial reactions included letters of protest to several Greek authorities.
