Trey Thompkins fully recovered from the coronavirus COVID-19, his Real Madrid teammate Rudy Fernandez mentioned via social media. The 29-year-old American forward tested positive shortly after the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season was temporarily suspended.

As a result, all players were quarantined according to the guidelines set. “Everyone in the team is fine,” said Fernandez revealing his teammate recovery, “Trey fully recovered and the whole team is doing very well.”

“It would be very strange to play in July”

Apart from the immediate coronavirus impact, the Whites are forced to the sidelines with both EuroLeague and ACB action suspended. Stretching respective schedules deep into the summer provided health concerns are lifted remains a possibility.

“It would be very strange to play in July,” confessed Fernandez, “We are waiting for the competitions to decide.”

“I really wanted one more Olympic run”

The 2020 Olympic Games Tokyo moved to next summer, but a few days prior to his 35th birthday Fernandez does not rule out one more participation with Spain.

“I really wanted one more Olympic run,” he pointed out, “Maybe I will miss it. Hopefully the Olympic Games will be held next year and we can win the gold medals.”

“I am not thinking about retiring, but unfortunately that time is approaching”

Staying safe is his top priority, but is also taking care of his body. “I am working out to my best considering my injuries, especially my back,” he took out on his current condition, “I miss playing.”

“I am not thinking about retiring, but unfortunately that time is approaching,” he added, “I am trying to stay in shape, but will take a step back if necessary for the young upcoming Real Madrid players to replace me.”
