LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne owner and president, Tony Parker talked to L’ Equipe about the decision to promote TJ Parker into the head coaching role ahead of the 2020-21 season. He additionally clarified that Frederic Fauthoux will be his brother’s assistant.

“TJ Parker will be the head coach, the boss. Frédéric Fauthoux will be his assistant,” the retired player pointed out, “I believe TJ is ready. The timing is correct.”

His younger brother joined ASVEL in 2013. He became the interim head coach in the bottom end of the 2018-19 season, before returning to his assistant role with Zvezdan Mitrovic in charge for the 2019-20 season.

“For me, there is no element of surprise,” Parker added referring to his brother’s promotion, “I had said he would eventually become the head coach. We were preparing him for the position. I trust my instincts and believe TJ is ready.”
