Zach Auguste finalizing deal for Panathinaikos comeback

Panathinaikos OPAP’s talks with Zach Auguste are in progress and the deal is about to be finalized, according to Eurohoops sources. Unless something happens at the 11th hour, the 27-year-old center, Notre Dame alum will return to Greece and the Greens.

Panathinaikos was considering Auguste, as Eurohoops previously reported. The two parties actually joined forces before, for the 2017-18 season. The explosive big spent the next two following seasons in Turkey as a member of Galatasaray Doga Sigorta.

His 2019-20 run, shortened by the coronavirus pandemic, marked his second in both the 7DAYS EuroCup and Turkey’s BSL. He improved to 13.4 points and 7.1 points per EuroCup contest and threw in 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 blocks per match at the domestic level.

The Greek powerhouse has been going strong recently in the market opening its offseason additions with Marcus Foster and Nemanja Nedovic after promoting Georgios Vovoras from assistant to head coach.

Moreover, Ian Vougioukas and Panathinaikos officially parted ways on Thursday. His second run with the Greek club added three domestic championships to his vast personal list of captured titles.
