The opt-out clause of Thomas Walkup to Zalgiris is expiring tonight (July 20) and with the current situation, it’s safe to say that the American guard is staying with the Lithuanian team for one more year.

Khimki Moscow was one of the teams looking to add the 27-year-old guard but a deal didn’t come through and the player will stay for his third straight season with Zalgiris.

He won two Lithuanian League titles and one Mindaugas Cup so far with the team while he was named the 2019 Lithuanian League Defensive Player of the Year.

Walkup made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Zalgiris in 2018 while this past season, he averaged 9.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court.

Prior to Zalgiris, Walkup played for the Windy City Bulls in the G League as well as for MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany.
