Nick Calathes gave his first long interview to “El Mundo Deportivo” about his decision to continue his career in Barcelona and also clarified the rumors about the interest of Olympiacos.

Speaking about the fact that his former teammate Sarunas Jasikevicius is his new coach, Calathes explained his relationship with him during their days at Panathinaikos: “The truth is that it was hard on me. He demanded a lot of us young people. I didn’t understand it then, I was twenty years old. But the second year with him was much better, I saw that he only wanted the best for the team”.

And Saras remains very demaning as Calathes said: “He respects everyone, all players, but he is very demanding because he knows what he wants and he aspires that we all play in the right way. He puts a lot of energy into work and games but I don’t think that will affect (negatively) anyone”.

Calathes also talked about the interest of Olympiacos, about which he admitted: “Yes, I considered it. I considered all the options. I respect Olympiacos as I respect the rest of the team that wanted to sign me. Of course I valued their proposal and spoke with them”.
