TD Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz returned to EuroLeague action Friday to beat Khimki Moscow 77-60 at home for Round 4.

Baskonia rested in Round 3, as their scheduled game against Zenit was canceled due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the Russian team that wouldn’t allow the game to take place. The break seemed to do Dusko Ivanovic’s squad good, as they remained in charge of the game from start to finish. Khimki once again traveled with its 8-man squad and went down with pride, fighting against imponderables.

Achille Polonara led the winning side with a double-double of 20 points and 10 boards, along with four steals, as Rokas Giedraitis registered 20 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists in his team-high 33-minute presence on the court.

Once again Vyacheslav Zaytsev stepped up for decimated Khimki, leaving the court with 17 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. Devin Booker also posted double-double digits with 16 points and 12 rebounds as Jonas Jerebko had 12 points and 9 rebounds as well.

Baskonia improved to a 3-1 record after this victory and the Russian team has yet to reach a victory into the new season, as its squad is crippling with COVID-19 cases.

“Our aggressiveness on defense and running on fast breaks were the keys. We had easy baskets, that is how we play easily. Every time it is important to win a game, the season is very long”, were Ivanovic’s quotes after the game.
