FC Barcelona defeated Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul at home with a 97-55 victory in Round 8 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to improve to a 7-1 record and remain on top of the standings with their sixth straight victory.

The Blaugranas put up a feast early on to grab a 51-29 lead at halftime and remain in charge for the remainder of the game with excessive leads, that pushed Fenerbahce to its second-worst defeat of the competition (42-point deficit), behind a 101-58 defeat to Montepaschi Siena in the 2009-10 regular season.

“I think we had a lot of respect for Fenerbahce. Obviously, we were really worried about their defense. We moved the ball really well, got a lot of open shots. Obviously, they missed Nando [De Colo] a lot. Ultimately, this is a fantastic result and a great evening for us. A lot of things clicked tonight. This difference is not normal against such a great team”, said Sarunas Jasikevicius after the game.

Kyle Kuric finished with a game-high performance of 25 points, Rolands Smiths recorded 20 points and five rebounds, while Nikola Mirotic laid the work in the first half to exit the game with 16 points and 8 boards.

Adding up to the list of top scorers, Alex Abrines and Cory Higgins posted 12 and 11 points respectively.

In the wake of Nando De Colo’s injury, Fenerbahce struggled to remain on track. Lorenzo Brown was the only player to finish the game in double figures for Igor Kokoskov’s team by adding 10 points, along with two assists and two steals. Leo Westermann had 9 points and five assists, Eddie Jarrell and Danilo Barthel added 7 points each. Fenerbahce falls to a 4-4 record after a two-game winning streak.
