Johannes Thiemann extends contract with ALBA Berlin

Johannes Thiemann renewed his contract with ALBA Berlin until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, the German team announced Monday.

“I am very happy being able to extend my contract,” said the German big, per the press release, “The culture here at ALBA is just unbelievable and I am very happy that I can be a part of it, long term.”

Thiemann, 27, recently became a four-time easyCredit BBL champion capturing his second domestic title with ALBA. He posted 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per match. He also logged 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearance.

The Trier-born forward/center, currently participating in Germany’s training camp ahead of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, joined ALBA in 2018 following a couple of seasons at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. He was previously attached to Brose Bamberg.
