Panathinaikos OPAP’s Thursday contest against Zalgiris Kaunas in Athens for Round 18 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague has been suspended, per EuroLeague’s announcement.

Panathinaikos registered three more COVID-19 cases Thursday, for a total of 10 (seven players and three staff members).

Per EuroLeague’s announcement:

“The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 18 game between Panathinaikos OPAP Athens and Zalgiris Kaunas, originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, December 30, has been suspended. Panathinaikos requested the suspension after several team members tested positive for COVID-19, which leaves it without the minimum eight players on the Authorization List fit to play.

Following the Special Regulations due to COVID-19, approved by the ECA Shareholders Executive Board, each game can be rescheduled up to three times, if there are available dates. Euroleague Basketball will coordinate with both teams the best options to reschedule the game. Alternative dates will be announced on official Euroleague Basketball platforms.”
