Saras says Barcelona is delighted with Dante Exum

Barcelona coach Sarunas Jasikevicius had some very good words for guard Dante Exum after the latter made an impact in a hard-earned win over Bayern Munich.

“Due to many circumstances, he hasn’t had continuity, although for reasons that haven’t to do with him,” Saras mentioned per Mundo Deportivo. “But we are delighted with him. This last game was an important step and I hope it gives him a lot of confidence.”

Exum scored all of his nine points vs. Bayern in the last 13 minutes of the game while getting five rebounds during the 17 minutes he spent on the floor. The 26-year-old Australian player also drained an important 3-pointer that put his team up 69 – 63 with 1:21 and served a bit like a pre-dagger.

Barcelona brought Exum to Europe for the first time in his career in December by signing him to a contract until February 28. In nine EuroLeague games, he has averaged 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15:03 minutes while producing slightly better in ACB with 6.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 19:48 over the two games he’s played so far.

Exum has also put a lot of effort on the defensive end, something that Jasikevicius definitely appreciated. His assessment of the player and whether he’ll continue on the team will come at the end of the month.

“You have to make decisions and they will be made at the end of the contract,” Saras said.
