After winning the 2022 VTB League championship title with Zenit St. Petersburg, guard Billy Baron will be leaving the team. As Eurohoops sources confirm the 31-year-old player is near a deal with AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano following talks with multiple EuroLeague clubs.

Milano will be Baron’s seventh career destination after Lietuvos Rytas in Lithuania, Charleroi in Belgium, Murcia in Spain, Eskisehir in Turkey, Crvena Zvezda in Serbia and Zenit. He established himself in EuroLeague with the Red Star from 2018 to 2020 before leaving for Zenit with an ABA League championship title and Finals MVP award in his bags

Baron was a part of Zenit’s establishment as a playoff team in EuroLeague. Last season he averaged 11.2 points and 2.2 assists last season while Zenit was 14-9 in EuroLeague before all Russian clubs were expelled from the competition in light of the war in Ukraine. He led Zenit in scoring in VTB with 14.1 points.

Italian media PuntOlimpia first reported the interest of Milan in the player.
