Augustine Rubit re-signs with Bayern

Former South Alabama standout Augustine Rubit has signed a contract extension to remain a player of FC Bayern Munich through the 2022-23 season, the team announced Wednesday. In addition, Leon Radosevic was released after four years at the team based in Munich.

Rubit, 32, carrying in the experience of three campaigns in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, added 10.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest over 36 appearances with Bayern in the 2021-22 season. A regular starter for Italian mastermind Andrea Trinchieri, his efforts were combined with a berth in the Playoffs but FC Barcelona outlasted Bayern in the best-of-five series to advance to the Final Four.

At the domestic level, Rubit produced 10.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.5 blocks per contest over 33 appearances. After ranking third in the Regular Season of Germany’s easyCredit BBL, Trinchieri’s side reached the Finals but fell to Alba Berlin, 3-1, and settled for the runner-up position.

“Our last season was positive but I really hope and am confident the next season will be even better,” mentioned the experienced forward/center after re-signing, “I am looking forward to playing again in front of our fans and for this club.”

Radosevic, 32, was coming off a solid three-year stint at Brose Bamberg when he joined the Munich outfit in 2018 and was on the championship side of the 2019 easyCredit BBL and the 2021 German Cup in the last four years. He upped his total of EuroLeague appearances to 250 games played averaging 3.6 points, 1.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest over the 104 appearances with Bayern.
