Panathinaikos wants to make a big comeback under coach Dejan Radonjic and on the court, an old leader may end up being the key that unlocks the future of the team. Panathinaikos has set as a priority the return of Nick Calathes to the team.

Calathes who is not included in Barcelona’s plans is also part of Olympiacos’ shortlist. However, first and he has to agree to be released by Barcelona since his contract is guaranteed and there are no opt clauses in it. That’s why there’s an open negotiation between him and Barcelona with Calathes’ side aiming to get even all his guaranteed money if possible, a sum around 1,8 million euros.

Meanwhile, Panathinaikos has put on hold every other major move, including the talks with Arturas Gudaitis, since getting back Calathes who left the team in the summer of 2020 will be a major sign of a quest to return to past glories.

Nick Calathes has played for Panathinaikos between 2009-12 and 2015-20, winning the 2011 Euroleague and six Greek league titles.
