In one of the best games of the round in the EuroLeague, Bayern after a crazy finish got the 75-74 win against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.

Augustine Rubit and Niels Giffey were the heroes for the German side as they scored the crucial points from the free throw line down the stretch, making four out of four. Earlier Retin Obasohan with a three gave a 74-73 lead to ASVEL.

However, with 33 seconds on the clock, Jonah Mathews was called for an offensive foul while Bayern had the 75-74 advantage and ASVEL didn’t have the chance to shoot again until the end.

It’s been three games in a row. I can’t really talk about it. Hey, we lost, congrats to Bayern“, said head coach TJ Parker.

Vladimir Lucic scored 13 points, while Andreas Obst and Nick Weiler-Babb added 12. Rubit followed with 10.

For ASVEL, Nando De Colo returned to action after missing last week’s game against Crvena Zvezda and scored 15 points.

It was all Bayern at the beginning of the game. Obst and Jaramaz were on fire in the first quarter, and it did not take long for the German team to get a double-digit advantage (25-15). Nando De Colo managed to keep ASVEL in the game by scoring eight points as the deficit was manageable by halftime 42-33.

The beginning of the second half was a completely different story. ASVEL finally played the defense that was expected of them. After allowing only 11 points in the third quarter, the score was tied at 53 entering the last period.

Great first half, mentally tragic approach in the third quarter. Ninety-nine percent of the time you lose these games and you deserve to lose these games. Because when you are controlling the game and then for reasons that are, at this moment, not clear to me, you risk losing the game. The last 5 minutes were good. Then Obasohan scored an unbelievable bucket, but we found a way to play and win. I am happy about the scoreboard but there is a lot of work to do“, Bayern coach Andrea Trinchieri said.
