Fenerbahce Beko has agreed on the terms of a two-year contract with center George Papagiannis and a deal is expected to be finalized soon according to Eurohoops sources.

Papagiannis will be leaving Panathinaikos after spending the last five years of his career with the Greek club. The Greens wanted to keep the 26-year-old big man but the player decided to accept an offer by Fenerbahce where he’ll join forces with his Greek national team head coach Dimitris Itoudis.

During his run with Panathinaikos, Papagiannis kept improving year by year and made the All-EuroLeague Second Team in 2022, leading the competition in rebounds and blocks. In 2022-23, he averaged 8.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks while shooting a notable 18-37 on 3-pointers.

Papagiannis was selected with the 13th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in 2016 and signed with the team. He played 38 games with the Kings until he was waived in 2018 and then briefly joined the Portland Trail Blazers before moving to Panathinaikos for his second stint with the team.

Fenerbahce Beko has been rather active over the last week with the signings of center Sertac Sanli and guard Yam Madar.

Greek journalist Sotiris Vetakis first reported the upcoming deal.
