Kostas Sloukas hands PAO the win over Efes in Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament Final

Kostas Sloukas scored the winning layup with 12 seconds remaining as Panathinaikos Athens defeated Anadolu Efes in the Final of the Pavlos Giannakopoulos preseason tournament.

Sloukas drove to the basket and pulled off a tough basket against Will Clyburn’s defense to hand Panathinaikos the win in a very close battle in the fourth period. The Greens led 62 – 53 three minutes into the fourth period but Efes came back and tied the game at 63.

Two free throws by Elijah Bryant put Efes up 68 – 69 with 41 seconds remaining before Sloukas’ decisive layup. Derek Willis missed his 3-point attempt on the other end, as Efes finished the tournament in second place.

Sloukas finished with nine points while Mathias Lessort scored 21 points and Kyle Guy added 13 points. Shane Larkin dropped 14 points and Clyburn had 13 points for Efes.
