Anadolu Efes officially parted ways with Erdem Can after a tough loss to Zalgiris Kaunas that left the Istanbul team 16th in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings.

The big question was who would take his place at the Turkish champions’ bench, and Eurohoops can confirm Yagiz Sabuncuoglu’s report that long-time assistant Tomislav Mijatovic will take over until the end of the season.

The Croatian tactician has been working as an assistant coach at Anadolu Efes since 2010.

Mijatovic will start his tenure as a head coach against Olimpia Milano in EuroLeague Round 25 this Friday (02/02).

We will host a very good team at home. To achieve our goal of winning, we must exert our maximum effort on both ends of the field for 40 minutes. Olimpia Milano is a team consisting of players with very high potential and managed by one of the greatest coaches of European basketball, but our players and fans will sweat together for 40 minutes to get the victory, which is our goal…,” Mijatovic said.
